Issa Rae & Robin Thede Team Up For ‘Black Lady Sketch Show’ On HBO
HBO star, Issa Rae has teamed up with comedian, Robin Thede for a new television series for HBO. Just six months after BET canceled her late-night show, The Rundown With Robin Thede, the host and comedian is set to be featured with a number of other women of color who will perform narrative sketches. The new HBO series will be written and directed by black women including Thede who will serve as not only a writer, but as well as executive producer, according to reports. What a way to make a comeback, right?! Thede, 39, shares her news on social media writing:
“I created, “A Black Lady Sketch Show,” because I love how many insanely funny black women are grinding in these comedy streets! It’s time the WORLD recognizes.”

Thede continues,
“This show is going to be epic and Issa Rae, and I are so honored to be bringing this project to HBO!”

The newest HBO executive producer, has an impressive list of writer accomplishments on her resume. Thede was a head writer and correspondent for “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.” Thede also served as the first head writer for the 2016 White House Correspondents Dinner, all prior to her joining the BET show, The Rundown. Rae already has the hit series with HBO, ‘Insecure,‘ for which landed her with her first Emmy nomination and two Golden Globes. The air date has not yet been released.
