Liam Neeson Recalls Looking For Random Black Men To Murder After Friend Was Raped: I Wanted To Kill A Black Bastard
Actor Liam Neeson is currently on a press tour to promote his new movie Cold Pursuit, but things took a dark turn when he veered off from discussing the film to revealing his past desire to “kill” a black man.
In his latest film Cold Pursuit, Liam Neeson plays a father trying to avenge his son’s death by taking down local gangster’s, so when asked in a recent interview if he had first-hand knowledge of anger and revenge of that magnitude, his response was shocking. Neeson explained that when he found out that someone very close to him had been raped years ago, he went looking for random black men to “kill” because he was so angry, since his friend revealed that she had been raped by a black man.
Neeson stated:
“She handled the situation of the rape in the most extraordinary way. But my immediate reaction was…I asked, did she know who it was? ‘No.’ What color were they? She said it was a black person.”
Neeson continued, revealing that he spent about a week going out at night with a weapon looking for a black man to punish and kill for the rape of his friend:
“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody—I’m ashamed to say that—and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could,” another pause, “kill him.”
Whether he immediately realized how disturbing and damaging his comments were or not, Neeson quickly noted how “horrible” his past behavior was:
“It was horrible, horrible, when I think back, that I did that. And I’ve never admitted that, and I’m saying it to a journalist. God forbid.”
Cold Pursuit starring Liam Neeson is slated to hit theaters on February 8 nationwide.
