Tameka Foster Recalls Almost Dying While Having Plastic Surgery: I Was Married, Publicly Shamed & Didn’t Feel Like I Was Enough
Just two months after giving birth to her second son, Tameka Foster traveled to Brazil to have a liposuction procedure on her stomach. The former stylist, who was married to Usher Raymond at the time, didn’t get the opportunity to complete the surgery as she suffered a cardiac arrest. The incident took place in February 2009. This week, Tameka recalled the story on social media. She writes,
Feeling grateful today. 10 years ago today I suffered a cardiac arrest in Brazil. #Flatlined #IDied. I was married, publicly shamed and didn’t ever feel like I was enough, pretty enough, exotic enough, slim enough, light enough, worthy enough.

According to reports, shortly after she went under anesthesia, Tameka suffered a cardiac arrest. After a day in the ICU, Foster was transferred to a larger facility, Sao Paulo’s Hospital S rio-Liban.
At the time, Usher canceled his performance at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy gala to fly to Brazil to be at his wife’s side.
Foster continued her reflection,
Today I’m 20 pounds heavier, feel much prettier, single AF, happier, and so amazingly worthy. #Enough
FYI: I didn’t get the tummy lipo or any at ALL during that ordeal but did they suck my damn eyebrows out? ?? #Hotmess#BonyBrows #WhyIsMyPhoneSoSmallTho
Kudos to Tameka for opening up about her experience.
