NeNe Leakes Lands Lead In New Scripted Series ‘Ride Or Die’
For 11 seasons now, Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes has proved why she is one of the greatest gifts to reality TV. From her iconic faces and one-liners to her natural humor, Leakes definitely knows how to keep audiences entertained. Now, the reality star/actress is gearing up to head back into the world of scripted TV because she just landed the lead in a new series.
NeNe Leakes initially got into acting with scene-stealing appearances on the FOX series Glee, where she played Coach Roz, she parlayed that role into another on NBC’s The New Normal, which only lasted one season.
However, Leakes never put her acting aspirations on hold and apparently it paid off because she has just been cast to star in a new series on Pop TV titled Ride or Die. Described as a comedic murder mystery, the series will also star actresses Marley Shelton (Rampage, Rise) and Molly Sims.
The synopsis for Ride or Die and character descriptions are as follows:
“‘Ride or Die’ stars Marley Shelton and NeNe Leakes. Shelton will play Shauna, a former socialite turned spin instructor whose favorite student turns up dead. She makes it her mission to find the killer. Leakes will play Glo, a chef and lifestyle guru who’s also a true-crime buff and is thrilled to share her expertise on the case.
Rounding out the cast is Molly Sims (‘Las Vegas’) who will play the resident mean girl and a frenemy from Shauna’s past life. Jennifer Landon (‘Animal Kingdom’) will play the ambitious Ali, who’s threatened by Shauna’s growing popularity, and Tawny Newsome (‘Bajillion Dollar Properties’) will play Lindy, who runs the front desk at the spin studio and is Shauna’s only true ally at work.”
Zoe Cassavetes (Facebook Watch’s Junior) will direct the pilot and Michael Rosenberg will executive produce. Ride or Die will join a slate of scripted series on the Pop TV network that includes the hit comedy Schitt’s Creek, the forthcoming Flack starring former True Blood star Anna Paquin, Hollywood Darlings and British import series Clique.
You can currently catch Leakes every Sunday night on Bravo, as the Real Housewives of Atlanta airs the second half of its 11th season.
