Cardi B: You Gotta Be Your Own Kids Role Model!
Rapper Cardi B is opening up about her struggles with staying true to herself. Cardi (real name Belcalis Almánzar), 26, a former strip club dancer turned reality star, blasted onto the music scene with a combination of hit records. As her career advanced, the rapper was told she had to make changes that didn’t make her comfortable. Cardi says,
“When I first started doing videos, I didn’t even think for one second what I was going to say. Nowadays, I have to watch what’s I say. I feel like I’m trapped.”
The Grammy award winning rapper continues, mentioning how she’s been forced to adjust her tone to be more of a role model for younger fans.
“I feel like I’m not being myself. This ain’t 2016, 2015 Cardi. Like, I changed a lot for you motherf*ckers so I can be a damn role model for your kids.”

Cardi says she feels that it’s not her sole responsibility to a role model. She explains,
”You need to be the role model for your kids.”
As previously reported, the Bronx rapper addressed being told to adjust her social media presence and her outspoken attitude. She tweeted,
“For these past two years I been watching what I say and I haven’t been myself.I been feeling trap and sad cause it’s not ME but everybody tell me to be it for me to be this “rolemodel”and guess what ? People still spit my past right in my face so for now imma be my old self again”
