R. Kelly Will Fight Recent Court Judgement, Insists He Was Too “Confused & Overwhelmed”
Earlier this week we reported that one of the women accusing singer/songwriter/producer R. Kelly of sexual abuse recently won a default judgement against him—largely due to his failure to respond to legal documents or appear to any hearings involving the case. Kelly is now fighting back against the judgement because he’s been so “confused and overwhelmed” lately with all of the legal issues surrounding him.
Reportedly, his mounting legal issues are the reason why he says he didn’t respond to legal documents or show up to any hearings regarding the lawsuit filed by one of his sexual assault accusers.

R.Kelly Turns Himself Into Police
According to reports, Kelly’s lawyer, Brian Nix, says that his client was served legal papers pertaining to the case while in jail and he didn’t know what he was reading or how to handle the situation, which is why his accuser was awarded the default judgement. His lawyer is now attempting to fight the recent court loss.
Nix further explained why Kelly never appeared for the hearings in the judgement:
“R. Kelly was served while incarcerated on the child support case and he was overwhelmed by the experience of being in jail. [Being overwhelmed] coupled with Mr. Kelly not being cognizant of what the motion fully meant led to him missing the hearing. I had no idea he had been served.”

Nix is currently in the process of trying to get the default judgment set aside so they can fight it out in court on their own merit. Kelly and Nix don’t have much time though, as the hearing to determine how much the alleged victim will receive is scheduled for next month.
