Ice Cube Wants New Friday Movie To Be Released Next Year
It’s official! A new Friday movie is in the works. Ice Cube confirmed the news during a sit-down with ESPN’s The Jump.
“You know, we’re pushing for it. We finished the script. We’re getting notes from the studio and it’s going back and forth. We’re gonna get into preproduction and start hiring. It would be nice for this to come out on the 25th anniversary. It’s a good come around.”

Ice Cube just celebrated the 24th anniversary of the original Friday on April 26. He wrote,
“To the 24 years that have flown since this came out, all I gotta say is… BYE, FELICIA Do you want the next chapter??”
He added a gif of his main character, Craig Jones.

Friday was released in 1995 and went on to have three more installments. It starred Ice Cube, who wrote the movie along with DJ Pooh. Chris Tucker was also a main character. Following the success of the original, Next Friday was released in 2000, Friday After Next hit theaters in 2002 and Last Friday was released in 2013.
It’s not clear if the original cast will be back for the new film.
