Nipsey Hussle’s Brother Joins His Sister In Custody Fight Over Hussle’s Daughter Emani
A few weeks ago, reports were swirling regarding Nipsey Hussle’s sister, Samantha Smith, seeking to gain permanent guardianship over Hussle’s daughter, Emani. Reportedly, her request for guardianship was denied, but apparently the fight for Emani continues because it’s being reported that Hussle’s brother has also joined the fight over Hussle’s only daughter.
It appears that Nipsey Hussle’s siblings are gearing up for a court fight over the custody of the L.A. rapper’s young daughter, Emani, who is the product of his relationship with former girlfriend Tanisha Asghedom. According to new reports, Hussle’s older brother, Samiel Asghedom, known as Blacc Sam, filed a declaration supporting his sister Samantha Smith’s move to obtain guardianship of Hussle’s 10-year-old daughter.
With the show of legal support from Blacc Sam, the family hopes that it will convince the judge that Emani should be in Samantha’s permanent custody instead of that of her mother, Tanisha. Hussle’s family does not believe that Tanisha can properly care for her or that she is beneficial to her upbringing. Before his death, Hussle and Tanisha had a joint custody arrangement for Emani.
In previous court documents, Samantha cited this as the reason she’s fighting for guardianship of Emani:
“…to ensure that she can continue to live with family members with whom she has always had close ties…[Samantha has] always been a presence in Emani’s life and along with the rest of Emani’s paternal family has assisted in her care.”
Earlier this month, a judge denied Samantha’s request for temporary guardianship, citing
“no need for urgency was demonstrated.”
However, Samantha has another court hearing set for May 14th when the decision about Emani’s permanent guardianship will be made. At press time, Tanisha has not spoken publicly about the custody fight for her daughter.
