Actress Peggy Lipton: Quincy Jones’ Ex, Mother of Rashida & Kidada Jones, Dies After Battle W/ Cancer [Condolences]
Sisters Rashida and Kidada Jones, had a very heartbreaking Mother’s Day, as their mother, actress Peggy Lipton, died at the age of 72 from a battle with cancer.
Peggy Lipton, best known for her roles in the 1960s TV series The Mod Squad and the 1990 cult favorite Twin Peaks, passed away on May 11th after battling cancer, just hours before Mother’s Day.
Lipton married famed music producer Quincy Jones in 1974 until the former couple divorced in 1989. During their marriage, they had two daughters, former model/stylist Kidada Jones and actress/producer Rashida Jones.
According to her family, Lipton died peacefully with both her daughters and her nieces by her side. Rashida and Kidada released a joint statement about their mother’s death shortly after she passed.
The statement read:
“She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side. We can’t put all of our feelings into words right now but we will say: Peggy was, and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond. She will always be a part of us.”
We want to send our deepest condolences to Peggy Lipton’s family during this difficult time.
