R. Kelly’s Ex-Manager Indicted For Sending Death Threats To Joycelyn Savage’s Father

While R. Kelly is facing even more charges for allegedly sexually assaulting women and underage girls, his former manager now has legal woes of his own. James Mason was hit with a felony charge Thursday for making terrorist-like threats, according to reports. He could spend anywhere between one and ten years in jail.

As for the person he’s accused of threatening — fans might remember Joycelyn Savage, 23. Her parents, Timothy and Jonjelyn Savage are the ones who exposed R. Kelly last year with claims that he was brainwashing her and keeping her against her will.

Mason is accused of sending threats to her father. Timothy told police in May 2018 that Mason called him and said,

“I’m gonna do harm to you and your family, when I see you I’m gonna get you, I’m gonna f***ing kill you.”

The Sheriff’s department in Henry County then issued an arrest warrant for Mason in August 2018 before he turned himself in. But he was released on bond for $10,000 and told to steer clear of the Savages. Now, he’s officially been indicted. Gerald A. Griggs, the lawyer for the Savages said,

“Today’s indictment of Henry James Mason, former manager of R. Kelly, further underscores the public accountability that victims and families are pressing on R. Kelly and his team. The Savage family will not be bullied or threatened in their quest to reunite with Joycelyn. Let this be a message to all associates of Robert Sylvester Kelly that the Savages are serious about justice and accountability.”

The Savages made headlines previously after they begged police to do a welfare check on Joycelyn in his Atlanta home. Timothy and Jonjelyn’s claims sparked a wildfire of recent accusations against R. Kelly and made old ones resurface as other women and parents came forward and accused him of sexually assaulting them or their daughters and holding them hostage. The accusations came to life even more in January as Savage’s parents and many of the other accusers appeared in Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly.

Still, Joycelyn has released statements that she’s not being kept against her will. She even appeared on CBS with Gayle King in R. Kelly’s emotional and explosive sit-down about the accusations. She and Azriel Clary, 21, whose parents also made claims against R. Kelly, said their family is trying to extort the singer for money. Both Savage and Clary are said to be Kelly’s live-in girlfriends.
