Ciara Cries As She Reveals Her Parents Aren’t Together After 33 Years
Ciara got emotional as she opened up about her parents’ split after 33 years of marriage.
She dished on their divorce for the first time during an appearance on RuPaul. It was actually the TV host who asked Ciara if her parents are still together.
“So, actually, I’ve never said this before, but I can think I can say it [and be] okay within myself. My parents were married for 33 years, and they’re not together anymore. However, they are both happily married, so that’s good.”
Their breakup came just after she met Russell Wilson, who she ended up marrying in July 2016.

Ciara, who was 29 when the split happened added,
“Imagine, you go for 33 years of Mom and Dad being together, and then when I had my child, my son, my first child, I was like, “I just know Mommy and Daddy that made Baby is what the scenario’s supposed to be.’ So that was like ‘whoa’ when that happened in my life, ’cause this is not what I know.”
Interestingly enough, Ciara opened up about her dad during a sit down on Red Table Talk earlier this month.
“I grew up with my mom and dad being together…the idea of it being Mommy and Daddy made baby. Then all of a sudden you’re living your life in front of the world. My dad’s love is what saved me in all of my situations, because it would get to a point where I would say, “My dad wouldn’t do this to my mom.”
“I’ve always had the same goal of wanting to be loved in a certain way, but I was just walking in the wrong direction. I was looking in the wrong direction … it would be the worst scenario to stay in a situation that’s just not healthy, that’s not gonna get any better.”
Ciara and Wilson are happily married. She also gushed about him and how she was unhappy in relationships before him. She credited their happiness to prayer.
