LeBron James Teases Next Jersey Number For Lakers Upcoming Season

This week, Los Angeles Lakers star, LeBron James allegedly extended an olive branch for his new teammate, former New Orleans Pelican, Anthony Davis to wear his No. 23 jersey. Afterwards, James took to Instagram to teased what number he would be wearing for the 2019-2020 NBA season. He writes,

Following the social media post, James’ teammate, Lakers 2017 first round pick, Kyle Kuzma tweeted to James that he wants the superstar to bring back his famous headband.

“All we need is the headband bro. Give the fans what they want.”

As previously reported, James’ alleged goal was to make his newly acquired teammate as comfortable as possible as the Lakers are on the hunt to rebuild their team around the 3-time NBA champion.

“James is laying the groundwork to make his soon-to-be new teammate as comfortable as possible, and the six-time All-Star was extremely grateful of the gesture.”

In 2009, James spoke on the many reasons why he decided to wear the No. 6 jersey. He tells Cleveland.com,

“My second-favorite player was Julius Erving, and he wore No. 6. I wore 32 in high school because Dr. J wore it at first. My first child was born on Oct. 6, it’s my Olympic number, my second child was born in June.”

James last wore the No. 6 as a member of the Miami Heat where he played from 2010-2014, winning two NBA Finals along with a pair of Finals MVP trophies and regular-season MVP. The Lakers have a number of jersey retired from Nos. 8, 13, 22, 24, 25, 32, 33, 34, 42, 44 and 52.
