Ice Cube Reveals Why Lamar Odom Was Cut From The BIG3 League ‘We Want Players That Are Actually Playing’
Lamar Odom seemed to be making his highly-anticipated basketball comeback, only to be cut from Ice Cube’s Big 3 basketball league this week. Now, Ice Cube is explaining why Odom, who played on the Enemies team with Gilbert Arenas and Royce White, was no longer a good fit. He says,
“As a league we want players that are actually playing. If you ain’t playing or you can’t play or you have health issues…”
When asked if he was concerned about Odom, Ice Cube said,
“Always, I love the guy”
He didn’t go into detail with health concerns, but Odom has openly struggled with issues such as drug addiction. Back in 2015 he nearly died after he collapsed in a Nevada brothel. It looked as if he was going to make an epic return, but being dropped from the Big 3 could delay that comeback.
The league announced a shakeup with the players earlier this week.
Jermaine O’Neal, Baron Davis, and Bonzi Wells were also cut.

The league released a statement and said,
“Effectively immediately, Baron Davis, Bonzi Wells, Lamar Odom and Jermaine O’Neal will be deactivated for the 2019 BIG3 season.”
Glen “Big Baby” Davis was also hit with a huge fine for his behavior during a game. However, he won’t get suspended or removed from the league.

This is the third season for the BIG3. The remaining players are heading into week 4 in Rhode Island and Brooklyn.
