Aaliyah’s Estate Asks Fans To Respect Her Wax Figure

Aaliyah’s Estate Issues Statement Asking For Respect of Singer’s Wax Figure

In celebration of the late singer Aaliyah’s impact on the music industry, the Madame Tussaud Museum commemorated the 18th anniversary of her passing by revealing a life size wax figure in Las Vegas last week. The iconic singer was memorialized wearing an outfit from her “Try Again” music video in 2000, featuring leather pants and silver sequin bra.

Some visitors were suspected of touching Aaliyah’s figure inappropriately which lead to the singer’s family addressing their actions. In a tweet from the official Twitter page for the singer, the Estate asked for all to respect their hard work when visiting.

“We ask kindly that anyone visiting the Aaliyah wax figure @TussaudsVegas please treat it with respect, this has been a lot of years of hard work by her fans petitioning and her family’s @RAD_6 support ! Below is inappropriate and unacceptable.”

Included in their statement were two photos – one image showed a female fan appearing to be apply make-up on Aaliyah’s wax figure.  In another image, the wax figure’s hair was noticeably styled differently.

Madame Tussauds also released a statement addressing fans freedom to interact with  the figures,

“Madame Tussauds is a unique experience where fans can come face to face with the stars and their idols. We take pride in ensuring all guests have an authentic experience and encourage guests to interact and have fun while being respectful. We do have in-attraction hosts on hand to guide guests through their experience and capture that perfect Instagram picture at all times.”

As previously reported, a petition was launched in earlier August demanding the museum to include the late singer. The petition read,

“Aaliyah is iconic in The RnB industry. Vibe Magazine labeled her as Queen Of Urban Pop and she is also known as The RnB Princess to many. Her legacy still remains strong today since her untimely death back in August 25th, 2001. It only makes sense that she should be in Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum along with the other famous stars. Please sign this petition so that she gets the recognition that she so well deserves and so we the fans can visit her. Thank You.”
