Rosario Dawson Compares Boyfriend Cory Booker To Captain America: He’s A Beautiful, Loving Human Being

Rosario Dawson is giving her boyfriend, Presidential candidate Senator Cory Bookersuperhero status.

Dawson gushed about her relationship with Booker, who is currently running to be the next President of the United States.

She compared him to a Senator she’s dating in USA’s new series  “Briarpatch” and said,

“I feel like I’m dating Captain America, I mean he’s just such an amazing, brilliant, kind, empathetic, beautiful, loving human being — Cory — and then this character has that as his sort of face. They could not be more different characters.”

In the show, Dawson portrays an investigator who works for a senator. She goes back home after her sister, a local detective is killed. The show then embarks on uncovering corruption and scandals in the political sphere.  Dawson said the storyline has become a topic of conversation with Booker’s team, before reiterating Booker is nothing like her on-screen boyfriend.

“It’s been really interesting just you know talking to him and talking to his staff about you know the premiere here. He’s a senator, he’s got his eyes on the presidency and he’s someone I work with, and we’re having an affair — otherwise there’s no similarities whatsoever.”

She switched gears and said while Booker plans to attend a premiere for yet another project Dawson is in (the sequel for Zombieland), he might not make it. But if he’s unable, she said she’s interested to see if he gets the same type of criticism she’s received for missing his campaign events.

“He’s hoping to make the ‘Zombieland’ premiere, but I’m curious to see, if he doesn’t, if he’s going to get the same amount of press being like ‘why aren’t you supporting your women.“I’ve been getting all this press like ‘Why aren’t you at your man’s side’ when I’ve made it really clear that it’s okay to be a working mom.”

Interestingly enough, she added that she’s not supporting any particular candidate in the race for President.

“Regardless of Cory, I wasn’t going to be behind any particular candidate this election. I really just want to be behind the electorate.”

“This election is really really critical. A lot of the themes that are touched on [in ‘Briarpatch’] are really, narratively critical for us to be talking about in a wider space so that people can come to the table and see where their position is and see where they can be active…We need all hands on decks.”

Still, it’s safe to say she and Booker are getting pretty serious. He even hinted at popping the question soon. When asked about possibly being the first single U.S. President in quite some time, Booker said lots can happen between now and when he’s sworn into office in 2021, should he win.

“The swearing in isn’t until the 21st of January 2021. You never know what will happen between now and then.”

He first revealed they were dating in February and said during an interview,

“As our relationship grows, it’s difficult. But she is a deeply soulful person and has taught me a lot of lessons about love already and sometimes you show the greatest strength when you’re vulnerable. She really has this nurturing spirit that’s made me more courageous, not just in the love I project and want to see in our country, but I think in our own personal relationships to love more fearlessly. I’m very, very blessed to be with somebody who makes me a better person.”
