LeBron James’ “Taco Tuesday” Trademark Denied

LeBron James’ “Taco Tuesday” Trademark Denied
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has reportedly denied LeBron James the rights to copyright the phrase “Taco Tuesday”.
According to reports, the USPTO refused the NBA star’s trademark application after finding that “Taco Tuesday” was a “commonplace message,” therefore failing to function as a trademark.
In August, one of James’ companies, LBJ Trademarks, originally submitted the required paperwork to trademark the term. The application stated that the purpose of trademarking the phrase for
“advertising and marketing services provided by means of indirect methods of marketing communications, namely social media, search engine marketing, inquiry marketing, internet marketing, mobile marketing, blogging and other forms of passive, sharable or viral communications channels.”
The trademark attempt might not come as a surprise as James celebrates Taco Tuesday on the regular.
James has yet to comment on the attempted trademark.
