Adrienne Bailon Reveals She Had To Investigate If Husband Israel Houghton Was Still Married When They Started Dating ‘I Needed To Know!’

Adrienne Bailon and her husband, Israel Houghton, are approaching their three-year wedding anniversary. But Adrienne Bailon recently revealed that she had to double-check to make sure he wasn’t married when they first started dating.

The early days of their romance were a bit controversial as Israel Houghton, a Grammy-Award winning gospel artist, had just revealed an affair he had during his marriage to his first wife. He and Adrienne Bailon went public with their relationship shortly after. But both have insisted that Adrienne Bailon was never the other woman. Still, Adrienne Bailon said she had concerns over whether Houghton was still legally married when they took their friendship to the next level. She explained:

“Thank God for the internet these days. Things get confusing and you get to clarify. Like me! When I first started dating my husband, people thought he was married. This is the thing, if you’re being real you wanna talk to the man. You’re like, ‘Yo, you got me out here looking crazy. Let me see the paperwork.’ Crazy thing is, him and his ex-wife actually filed under their initials and not under their names. So when ‘Page Six’ and a lot of these other news outlets went to go look for divorce documents, they couldn’t find them because they were under their initials for their privacy.”

She added,

“Then you got me stepping to this man like ‘Yo! Did you lie to me? Do you have me out here looking crazy?’ That’s a real conversation to have. I was like ‘We need to do some investigating.'”

She said her publicist called her and told her there was no record of a divorce. So she confronted him about it, and that’s when he told her about filing it under their initials.

She went on to say,

“They had filed them so far back, and he just chose to disclose that the marriage was over way later once children and everybody were settled in months and months later. But hello! Investigation come through! I needed to know!”
