Kerry Washington To Executive Produce ABC’s Live ‘Good Times’ Special

Kerry Washington is teaming up with ABC for the remake of more classics!

After the success of the All In The Family-The Jefferson’s live comedy special earlier this year, ABC is preparing for the release of a holiday episode of All In The Family and Good Times.

And Kerry Washington will be the executive producer after playing Helen Willis on the Jeffersons special.

Casting for the All In The Family – Good Times special hasn’t been finalized yet, but it looks like it will air next month.

ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said Tuesday,

“The holiday season is the perfect time for families to come together and enjoy another Live in Front of a Studio Audience special on ABC. Only Jimmy [Kimmel] and Norman [Lear] can top what they accomplished the first time. From the superstar talent to the unforgettable music and the richly deserved Emmy win, their collective vision has introduced a whole new generation of people to these groundbreaking and timeless stories — and now with Good Times as part of the lineup, this will surely be another can’t-miss television event.”

Kimmel also said,

“Being a part of Norman Lear’s world was a career highlight, and working with great actors on these great shows was so much fun, we couldn’t resist tackling a holiday episode of All in the Family and one of my favorites, Good Times.”

Good Times aired from 1974-1979, and was the first show in TV history to feature two Africa-American parents. Jimmie Walker, who starred in the show, recently said he’s not sure if Lear would ever feature him in a project, and that Kimmel refuses to let him be on his night-time talk show.
