LeBron James Reacts To Critics About His Defensive Aggressiveness, Tells Referee: It’s A New Year!
NBA star, LeBron James was spotted in a video speaking to a referee between a play during the Los Angeles Lakers 112-107 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday (Nov. 19th) night. In the video recorded by a court side ticket holder, the former NBA MVP, gave a ref a mouthful about his defensive effort.
“I know you’ve been reading and saying I haven’t been playing defense the last couple of years, but it’s a new year!”
The ref responds,
“I have not said that. That has never come out of my mouth — [motions to inbound the ball] — that’s never come out of my mouth.”
The 34-year-old had improved his defensive rating of 107.6 from last year. The Lakers as a whole are tied for the fewest points allowed per game. LeBron spoke to reporters after the home victory touching on the Lakers efforts on defense.
