Azriel Clary, 22, Back Home w/ Her Parents After Allegedly Living With 53-Year-Old R. Kelly Since She Was 17

Azriel Clary is back in the safety of her parents. The 22-year-old is said to have been living with R. Kelly, 53, since she was 17-years-old.

Her face plastered headlines after her parents, Angelo and Alice Clary, appeared on Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly last year. They stated that they were at an R. Kelly concert when Azriel Clary went on stage to dance with the singer. She went backstage when the performance was over and they went to go pick her up. They were then allegedly told that she exchanged numbers with R. Kelly, who said he’d help her with her music career. Shortly after, she moved to Chicago with R. Kelly and lived in his Trump Tower condo until earlier this week.

Now, the aspiring singer is back at home with her parents. She shared a photo from a fireplace and wrote,

Her mother also confirmed with PEOPLE that Azriel is back with them.

“The battle is won because she’s still here, she’s still alive, she’s still breathing and though she lost a few years of her life, she’s still here to tell her story. Because I chose not to keep her secluded in her life, she’s here now and we’re able to say the victory is won because she finally came to her senses and she’s back home with her family.” 

She added,

People don’t understand she’s hurt. This man lied to her for years, and she was doing what she thought a good girlfriend would do because that’s what she thought she was.”

She also said that Azriel, who fought R. Kelly’s other girlfriend, 23-year-old Joycelyn Savage, on Instagram Live, still has the mind of a 17-year-old.

“Everybody has something to say, she was 17 when she left. Now she’s 22, but guess what? She’s had problems for the last few years. She may have done things as far as being grown physically as a young woman, but mentally no. She still has the mental capacity of a 17-year-old because he kept her stagnated for years and didn’t let her be with her family.”

Azriel shared a tweet Friday (Jan. 10), amid news of the fight and her going back home.

“No one ever wakes up and says “today I’m going to be manipulated, or taken advantage of, or kidnapped”.. those are things you just cannotcontrol. I never thought me and victim would ever be in the same sentence because I was too in denial.. but once you realize, your realize.”
