Chicago Mayor On Jussie Smollett: He Needs To Be Prosecuted To The Fullest Extent Of The Law
The Mayor of the city of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, couldn’t care less about actor Jussie Smollett’s crumbling empire. In fact, in a recent statement, Mayor Lightfoot declared that she intends to make sure Jussie Smollett is held accountable for allegedly staging a racist/homophobic attack against himself. She said,
“He needs to face the charges. He committed a crime, and he needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
She continued,
“And we are going to continue to aggressively make him accountable for the wasted police resources that went into investigating what turned out to be a total hoax.”
Earlier this month, Jussie Smollett was indicted on six counts of disorderly conduct, and for filing false police reports related to the incident. Last year, all 16 charges of disorderly conduct against him were dropped.

However, as we previously reported, the actor is adamantly defending his innocence:
“It’s definitely frustrating but you just gotta fight or die at this point…I don’t claim to be innocent, I am innocent…The truth is the best defense.”
Jussie Smollett is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, March 2nd.
