Rihanna, Jay-Z, & Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Give $6.2 Million To Homeless Youth In New Orleans, COVID-19 Testing Efforts & More
Rihanna continues to support the communities impacted greatly by the coronavirus pandemic through her foundation the Clara Lionel Foundation. This week, she joined Jay-Z and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey to donate a whopping $6.2 million in grants that will be distributed across 11 organizations.
The Clara Lionel Foundation stated on its website:
“CLF, Twitter & Square CEO Jack Dorsey and JAY-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation (SCF) released $6.2 million in grants for COVID-19 rapid response efforts in the U.S and abroad. The grants, distributed across eleven organizations, will support efforts that include providing shelter, food and healthcare services to homeless youth in New Orleans, to building virus testing capacity across the Caribbean and to the set-up of ICUs, hospital beds and isolation units in sub-Saharan Africa, among others.”
Specifically in the United States and Puerto Rico, the grants will go toward the following initiatives: Give Directly, Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, Covenant House New Orleans, World Central Kitchen, Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans Acadiana, Total Community Action, and The Hispanic Federation.
Internationally the finds will go toward: Doctors Without Borders/Médecins San Frontiéres (MSF), The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, Direct Relief, and Team Humanity.
UBS Optimus Foundation matched their $1 million donation to MSF.
This is the latest joint effort between the all-star trio. As previously reported, Rihanna and Jack Dorsey also committed to $2.1 million to provide shelter to domestic violence victims and their children during the COVID-19 “stay-at-home” order.
It was also reported that Rihanna and Jay-Z;s through the Shawn Carter Foundation and Clara Lionel Foundation donated $2 million to help fund: the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles, The Fund for Public Schools, The American Civil Liberties Union, and the New York Immigration Coalition.
