Idris Elba: The World Should Take A Week Of Quarantine Every Year Just To Remember This Time
Since contracting the coronavirus, actor Idris Elba is both warning about how COVID-19 is impacting ill-prepared rural areas, and how the world should proceed in the future. Despite showing no symptoms, both he and his wife, Sabrina Dhowre, were diagnosed last month after he came in contact with Sophie Trudeau, wife of Canada’s Prime Minister.

In a new interview, Idris Elba revealed how he felt amid his diagnosis:
“…definitely scary and unsettling and nervous.”
The 47-year-old actor continued, sharing that even after the virus has died down – people should quarantine:
“We have to think about the forward planning. What’s what’s the fallout going to be?…I think that the world should take a week of quarantine every year just to remember this time. Remember each other. I really do.”
Unfortunately, Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre have been stuck in New Mexico since their diagnosis, preventing them from getting back to their home in London. He says:
“You know, everyone’s sort of feeling the way we have been feeling, but it has definitely been sort of just a complete upheaval…We’ve been fortunate. We have been staying in a lovely place that’s been very comfortable for the time. But we’re looking forward to going home.”

The actor believes people in rural areas are most at risk during the pandemic:
“If you imagine being in a village where no one even knows the name of your village or your population, and that you live in a slum where there is one room and six of you live in it. Social distancing is almost laughable.”
theJasmineBRAND continues to wish a speedy recovery to Idris Elba.
