Egypt Criss Announces She’s Leaving WETV’s “Growing Up Hip Hop”

Reality star Egypt Criss announced that she will be resigning from WEtv’s “Growing Up Hip Hop.” The 21-year-old aspiring singer, who is the daughter of Pepa of the iconic rap duo Salt-N-Pepa and Treach of Naughty By Nature, has been on the show since it premiered on Jan. 7, 2016. During the course of her time on “GUHH”, Egypt Criss’s family/friendship drama and her relationship with her fiancé Sam Mattick has been a central focus on the show. Most recently (May 15), “GUHH” episodes emerged of Egypt Criss fighting co-star Briana Latrise.

The two, who were once friends, fell out because of Briana Latrise dislike for Egypt’s fiancé Sam. The situation got so bad that Criss’s Pepa went back-and-forth with Briana Latrise and Pepa’s  niece Tee-Tee on Twitter. After all the drama she has experienced on the show, Criss has decided to walk away.

On her official post, Egypt said:

“I respect myself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves me, grows me or makes me happy. It’s time for me to rise from the ashes from being falsely represented to you, the people I love most, which is why I have decided to resign from Growing Up Hip Hop. #itsbeenreal#allgoodthingsmustcometoanend#movingforward

Egypt is the second cast member to quit the show. We previously exclusively reported that fellow “GUHH” star Romeo Miller had also decided to leave the show.

Sources close to Romeo Miller, who also served as an executive producer, had alleged that him leaving the show was due to a disagreement with production or the network. Yesterday (May 18), Romeo Miller and his father Master P called out WeTV for creating drama amongst the GUHH cast. The father-son duo eventually released behind-the-scene footage of how WeTV attempts to stir up trouble on the show.

Bow Wow, who starred in “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta” also announced he’s quitting earlier this year. He even challenged his rumored girlfriend, “GUHH” star and executive producer Angela Simmons to “do something incredible” with him.
