Insecure’s Issa Rae & Prentice Penny Respond To Fans Asking For Longer Episodes: Just Enjoy! Stop Trying To Change Us!
“Insecure” fans are demanding! In its fourth season, fans of the HBO hit series have badgered its creators – actress/writer Issa Rae and showrunner Prentice Penny – about getting hour-long episodes. Now they’re fed up! Before last night’s (5/24/20) episode, a fan threatened Issa Rae with this tweet:
“We getting you outta here if the next season don’t got hour long episodes @IssaRae”

Issa Rae hilariously shot down his aggressive request:
“You gon be sitting looking mad next season then, just like your avi.”
Prentice Penny was, then, forced to step in. He tweeted:
“Please stop asking if @insecurehbo is gonna be an hour long. We. Are. A. Half. Hour. Comedy. Just enjoy. Stop trying to change us. Lol.”

He continued:
“We are NEVER [GETTING LONGER THAN] 30 min episodes. And when we are it’s a request we ask for. But again. I don’t own HBO. They tell us the rules. We play by them. Go tell your boss you only wanna work 4 hours not 8 and see how they respond.”

The veteran showrunner added that fans should be happy to see an African-American lead series still on the silver screen, considering the lack of diversity in previous years.

Keep in mind, this isn’t Issa Rae’s first time tackling requests for shows longer than its current half-hour slots.
Would you like longer episodes of “Insecure,” or are 30 minutes of Issa and Molly long enough? Let us know what you think in the comments.
