Lil Nas X Reveals Why He Lied About Being A Nicki Minaj Fan: I Didn’t Want People To Know I Was Gay

It turns out Lil Nas X is a Nicki Minaj fan after all!

The “Old Town Road” rapper apologized to Nicki Minaj for not admitting previously that he was one of her biggest fans.  Lil Nas X initially reached out to Nicki Minaj to ask her if she would be on a song with him.  The tweet was paired with a meme emoji with “i am Proposing”.

He extended the request to the superstar rapper, saying:

“i have this song i want u on and was wondering…”

Nicki Minaj’s fans, affectionately called “Barbz”, typically go pretty hard for the Young Money rapper, so it was no surprise when fans began to call Lil Nas X out on just now showing his love to Nicki Minaj.  One fan writes,

“How come you never claimed her when people asked if you were a barb??  We all knew who you were”

Lil Nas X replied,

“i didn’t want people to know i was a gay tbh”

When another fan chimed in to challenge him on being a fan of Nicki not making you gay, Lil Nas X responded saying:

“it don’t but people will assume if you had an entire fan page dedicated to nicki u are gay.  and the rap/music industry ain’t exactly built or accepting of gay men yet.”

Seemingly, Nicki Minaj was ready to receive the apology because she wrote back to the rapper.  She said,

“It was a bit of a sting when you denied being a barb, but I understand.  Congratulations on building up your confidence to speak your truth.  @LilNasX”

He responded,

“the generous queen, i love u.  and i’m sorry i did that in a time where u were already getting so much bandwagon hate.  i felt so bad, hoping u wouldn’t see my denial.  i was just so afraid of people finding out about me and losing everything before i even got a chance.”

In June 2019, Lil Nas X shocked many people when he revealed that he’s gay.  He took to Twitter to say,

“some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more.  but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure.”
