Gabrielle Union Slams Simon Cowell: He Doesn’t Believe The Law Applies To Him + Says NBC ‘Controlled’ AGT Investigation

Amid her highly publicized harassment complaints and investigations regarding her stint on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” actress Gabrielle Union is doubling down on her comments on Simon Cowell. Gabrielle Union left her hosting gig on the NBC talent competition last year after experiencing racism and sexism on set, allegedly at the hands of Simon Cowell. Since then, the 47-year-old has filed complaints against NBC, Universal TV, Fremantle Productions, and Simon Cowell and his company, Syco Entertainment for harassment – claiming she was threatened for speaking up on the fallout. Gabrielle’s husband, NBA champion Dwyane Wade, says their family has even been followed in attempts of intimidation.

Refusing to back down, Gabrielle Union added that her interactions with the notoriously tough Simon Cowell were problematic from the beginning. She told Trevor Noah:

“Day one, Simon Cowell is smoking cigarettes inside. I’ve worked a long time. I’ve worked with all kinds of people. I’ve never experienced that…When your boss — the person who has the ability to determine who gets opportunities and who doesn’t — doesn’t believe that the law applies to him or the rules apply to him, and he does it in full view of NBC, Fremantle and Syco and no one cares about Simon Cowell exposing all of these employees to second hand smoke, that’s day one. What message do you think that sends to anyone that has an issue with the very real racism and the lack of accountability? And it goes on and on and on.”

In another interview she revealed:

“I couldn’t escape. I ended up staying sick for two months straight. It was a cold that lingered, and turned into bronchitis, because I couldn’t shake it. It impacted my voice, which affects my ability to do my job.”

The former judge was, also, reportedly under the impression that her harassment case would receive an independently contracted investigation. This didn’t end up being the case:

“I decided to participate in this investigation. Silly me, I thought ‘independent’ was independent. But when NBC and Fremantle and Syco pay for that investigation, they control it. They turn over what they believe to be inflammatory things, or things that are not advantageous to me. In the middle of an investigation about racism and discrimination? This is what’s happening from the top of the company.”

Yikes! What do you think of Gabrielle Union’s experience with Simon Cowell and NBC? Let us know in the comments.
