August Alsina Returns After 5-Year Hiatus w/ ‘The Product III: State Of Emergency’ + Announces New Docuseries

Singer August Alsina is set to make his return with his first album release in nearly five years with, ‘The Product III: State of Emergency.’ On Thursday (June 18th), the 27-year-old singer revealed the upcoming release of a lengthy 27-track project with guests including the likes of Lil Wayne, Juicy J, Tink, and Yo Gotti. It’s set to drop on June 26.

August Alsina also shared the cover art for his project, which features the singer as an animated character wearing a thorn crown on top of his head submerged in what appears to be a lake while surrounded by two human skulls, an automatic rifle, a handgun, and a police car.

The cover art also breaks down the “Emergency” part of the title as “emerge-and-see.”

‘The Product III: State of Emergency,’ marks his first release since 2015’s “This Thing Called Life.’ It also serves as the third installment in his Product mixtape series, which began in 2012. The sequel, The Product II, followed in 2013.

In addition to August Alsina’s latest music news, the New Orleans native will also drop a 5-part docuseries via YouTube starting June 21st.

He says in the trailer for the series,

“I made a film about life & all its journeys, about pain & what a gift & teacher it has been to me. About how one’s pain & being in a state of emergency causes one to ’emerge and see’ clearly. About love & what it’s been teaching me. About us as people & our connectivity. A film about truth & how it hurts to face it, yet you still gotta face it anyway. A film about tragedy & triumph & victory.”

As reported, the talented vocalist has shared bits of his recovery with the world. In July 2019, the singer shared that he’d been privately battling health issues and at one point, lost the ability to walk.

“I have a liver disease where my autoimmune system is fighting against itself. Reality is I’m sick all the time. I’d really like to talk about it and I’m not looking for anybody’s sympathy. Don’t treat me like I’m a f*cking cancer patient, because I’m not.”

Back in September, Alsina openly shared and documented his ongoing battle with liver disease. In a video, the singer sang a gospel song in hopes of encouraging his fans. He captioned it,

“Update; My doctors have started me on my iv antibody Immunotherapy. In short form it’s sort of like chemo but instead, for my immune system. Only in this case, not killing the cells, but encouraging my nervous system & body to rebuild. (idk. I’m still learning).. I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been tough on my body, but there are necessary steps in order to make progress. iLLness is so humbling & I often find myself singing this song of affirmation to myself eryday, so I figured I’d share that same love, affirmation and motivation with yal, whoever may need it. iHope it speaks to u. They say that #TheBlessingIsInTheENDURING (word 2 my bruv D.Walls)”
