D.L. Hughley’s Son Tests Positive For COVID-19 Days After Comedian: I’d Be Lying If I Said I Was Shocked

D.L. Hughley’s Son Tests Positive For COVID-19 Days After Comedian: I’d Be Lying If I Said I Was Shocked

As previously reported, comedian D.L. Hughley (born Darryl Lynn Hughley),57, was performing at Nashville’s Zanies Comedy Club and in the middle of what appeared to have been a punchline, D.L. Hughley said something unintelligible, shortly after he collapsed on stage.

Following the viral video’s release online, a rep for the comedian released a statement saying that he was,

“suffering from exhaustion after all the week’s work and travel, and was kept overnight at the hospital for tests under doctor’s orders. He is awake and feeling better, and wishes to thank everyone for the very kind prayer and thoughts.”

D.L. Hughley later shared that he tested positive for COVID-19, but had no symptoms. D.L. Hughley plans to go to his hotel and self-quarantine.

D.L. Hughley’s son Kyle Hughley, has revealed that he also has tested positive for COVID-19 as he was with his dad all last week. He said he wasn’t shocked since he and his dad had been together.

“I regret to inform everybody that I too have tested positive for COVID. I’d be lying if I said I was shocked, since I was around my dad all week. So far, I’m asymptomatic, and I hope and pray that I’ll STAY like that. Thanks everybody for your well wishes.’

He also said in a video,

“Alright there’s no easy way to say this, so I’m going to just say it, uhm, I have officially joined ‘the club’ sorry, trying to make the best out of a sh*tty situation, but I’ve officially joined the club that nobody wants to join and I regret to inform everybody that I have tested positive for Covid. Uhm, I just found out from the doctor of the urgent care that I went to on Saturday when I got tested, I did the nasal swab, they called me a few minutes ago to inform me.”

He goes on to say that although he is considered asymptomatic, he did have a slight fever on Friday (June 19) the same day his father, D.L. Hughley passed out on stage.

“I had a slight fever on Friday, and I thought that I was catching a cold, or at least I hoped I was catching a cold, but in the back of my mind, I was like sh*t this might be COVID. I was thinking that, and I was hoping that it was just a cold and, I was hoping it was allergies or whatever this that to whatever, but yea, it wasn’t, unfortunately, I’m asymptomatic so far which is good, so is my dad, we’re both asymptomatic.”

Fortunately, his mother wasn’t infected with the disease that has been declared a pandemic. Kyle Hughley added,

My mother tested twice, both times came back negative, so that’s good, and uh, just gotta monitor everything and see what happens, but so far so good.”

He ends his announcement, informing everyone to not “take sh*t for granted, and wear a mask,”

“Wear a f*cking mask, I don’t care what your personal preferences are, think of somebody who has underlying health conditions, just think of other people, don’t be selfish. Wear the d*mn mask, or don’t go out. I’ll check back with you guys in a couple weeks, and everybody stay safe, stay healthy, and don’t take sh*t for granted. Wear the d*mn mask.”
