YG Won’t Work W/ Nicki Minaj Again Because She Collabs With Tekashi 6ix9ine: I’m A Real Street N*gga
Looks like fans won’t be getting any new YG/Nicki Minaj collaborations in the near future. Her allegiance to infamous rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine appears to have left a bad taste in YG’s mouth. Recall Nicki Minaj’s Instagram Live interview with Tekashi 6ix9ine last month. She told the rapper – who admittedly cooperated with the FBI regarding his racketeering charges – that street business should be completely separate from the music business. On the other hand, Nicki says that men who have been involved in gangs have license to feel how they want about snitching:
“My take on it is I feel street n*ggas have every right to feel how they want to feel about snitching because they live that life…None of you n*ggas is on the block! If these n*ggas is out there doing what they doing and banging, and really livin’ that life wanna talk about it, I have to respect it. We all gotta respect it, because they play by a different code…So let’s be clear when we talk about rappers versus street n*ggas. It’s rappers that push guns they never busting a day in a life in their music all the motherf*ckin’ time, so we’re not talking about rappers.”
YG said he doesn’t support this rhetoric at all. In fact, because Nicki Minaj has worked with Tekashi several times – YG may never work with her again. In a recent interview, YG was asked if he would collaborate with Nicki Minaj. He shook his head and said,
“Yeah, I don’t know. My feelings is hurt. I’m a real street n*gga…I’m cool.”
He also coughed and said “canceled.” It’s not clear if he was referring to Nicki Minaj or Tekashi 6ix9ine.
YG and Nicki Minaj previously collaborated on the “My N*gga (Remix)” in 2014 and “Big Bank” in 2018.
On the other hand, Nicki’s latest Tekashi 6ix9ine collab, “Trollz” recently hit the number one spot.
