Kelis Called Out For Allegedly Inflating Prices Of Colombian Handbags, She Responds: I Think You Are Extremely Confused

Last year recording artist Kelis and her husband traded in the Hollywood life for the Colombian countryside – settling with their two sons on a farm. Well now, Kelis is being accused of exploiting Colombian artists by reselling their products at inflated prices. The “Milkshake” singer showed off the bright woven bags on Instagram.

A fan from Colombia attempted to call Kelis out for selling these authentic purses for $150 when artists sell them for $40 in the streets of the South American country. The Instagrammer typed:

“I’m Colobian and I come home often and never have I seen those bags being sold for $150! Are the women you state that make these get all of that money? Because it’s not cool to over charge people in the states unless those hard working women are getting all proceeds from these bags”

Kelis responded to the criticism:

“I think you are extremely confused sweet heart. And my husband is Colombian and I have land there and work there and love there so get yourself together babe. And quite frankly I was in Miami and the bags were being sold there for $600 lol so this is an amazing price”

Ironically, last year Kelis accused former collaborator – super-producer, Pharrell Williams – of exploiting her the way she’s being accused of. She said he and the other half of The Neptunes, Chad Hugo, “tricked her” into signing a contract preventing her from seeing money from her music. She said:

“Their argument is: ‘Well, you signed it.’ I’m like: ‘Yeah, I signed what I was told, and I was too young and too stupid to double-check it.’”

What do you think about Kelis’s reaction to the allegation against her? Let us know int he comments!
