Dolly Parton Supports Black Lives Matter: Our Little White A$$es Aren’t The Only Ones That Matter
Dolly Parton Talks BLM Movement: “Of Course Black Lives Matter”
Country music legend Dolly Parton recently spoke about her thoughts on the Black Lives Matter movement. In the interview, Dolly Parton expressed her “unequivocal” support of the Black Lives Matter movement, stating,
“I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen. And of course black lives matter. Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No!”
The Grammy award winning singer also talks about renaming her Dixie Stampede dinner attraction as Dolly Parton’s Stampede back in 2018. Dolly Parton renamed the attraction because she became more aware of the racist connotation of the term “Dixie” and its association with the confederacy. She explains,
“There’s such a thing as innocent ignorance, and so many of us are guilty of that. When they said ‘Dixie’ was an offensive word, I thought,‘Well, I don’t want to offend anybody. This is a business. We’ll just call it The Stampede.’ As soon as you realize that [something] is a problem, you should fix it. Don’t be a dumbass. That’s where my heart is. I would never dream of hurting anybody on purpose.”
After her interview was released and social media caught wind of Dolly’s comments about Black Lives Matter, users did not hold back their emotions on her comments. See some of the reactions below.

Just casually retweeting this for reference whenever anyone tries to excuse bigotry in older folks because they're "people of their time" or whatever nonsense. Dolly Parton is 74. https://t.co/7yh3Ybz8zI

Between Dolly Parton's quiet COVID research fund, BLM support, and her sending generations of children books through the USPS, at 74, she continues to be one of the most relevant and ever timely people of every era.
