Ciara Worked On ‘Rooted’ Song While She Was ‘Literally Still In Labor’
Ciara’s newest hit “Rooted” featuring Ester Dean is a celebration for more reasons than one. While the song became a trending topic on Twitter thanks to its salute to black excellence, the singer revealed that she not only taped some of the scenes two days before giving birth to her third child, she was also still writing parts of the song while she was in labor.
She said in a behind-the-scenes clip of the song she shared on Instagram,
“I was so proud of the process because I shot the video two weeks away from delivery for one part, and then I shot the other part just two days out. I probably could only do each take for like two minutes and then I needed to take a break. It also felt good working on it while knowing I was about to give birth to my newest angel, I was still grinding, and making it all happen at the same time.”
She added,
“Even down to literally being in labor having to give approvals for the song to make the deadlines — it was just an incredible experience that I will forever cherish.”
Ciara and her husband Russell Wilson welcomed their son, Win Harrison Wilson on July 23.
Russell Wilson also saluted Ciara for making the video just before welcoming Win. He tweeted on the day of the video’s release,
“Love you @Ciara What you mean to not only me and the kids but people from all over the world. The fact that you shot this amazing video only a few days before delivering Baby Win shows why you are the best in the world. Stay #Rooted“
