Kehlani Removed Tory Lanez From ‘Can I’ Because Of Loyalty To Megan Thee Stallion
As previously reported Kehlani has moved forward with her “Can I” video without Tory Lanez, who was featured in the song. She made the announcement to her fans that the visual for her song would be released on July 30th.


Now, Kehlani has explained why. She said in a recent interview:
“I have always been a very socially responsible individual, very accountable to my message, whenever I’ve messed up, whenever I’ve done something that didn’t align with the things that I stand for and the things that I push so hard.”
She adds that some of her fans expressed their concern with Tory Lanez being featured on the song.
“As someone with a large platform, as someone that people look up to, as a woman that makes other women feel safe and empowered, people were asking me, ‘Are you going to keep somebody on it who doesn’t necessarily make us feel safe or empowered, as a woman?'”
Her comments come just weeks after Tory Lanez was accused of shooting “Savage” rapper Megan Thee Stallion during a dispute.
Kehlani added that because of her close friendship with Megan Thee Stallion, she had to do what she believed was the right thing.
“The situation was involving someone that I’m extremely close to. So I just felt like, on some loyal sh*t, and on some do the right thing, you have to be responsible. Absolutely, I’m changing up the record.
I was conversed in private, it was spoken about, it was all thorough, it was business, and it was also loyalty to a situation…”
She added,
That’s not a industry friendship, that’s really my friend, it’s someone I say ‘I love you’ to.”
