Missy Elliott Doesn’t Want To Be In The Monica & Brandy Verzuz Drama: They’re BOTH Legends
Brandy and Monica’s upcoming Verzuz challenge set the internet ablaze as soon as it was announced. And Missy Elliott said she doesn’t want any parts of the drama.
While many fans reacted to the battle, one saluted Missy Elliott for her 2003 single with Monica, “So Gone.” They tweeted:
““So Gone” is one of the greatest R&B records of all time. Hands down. You literally feel the soul oozing from that joint. Wild how *even* that sound doesn’t exist anymore. Shout out to Missy Elliott.”
Missy Elliott replied,
“Awwww I am so humbly grateful and thankful this means a lot to me”

But one fan had a different type of response when they referenced Missy Elliott’s phrase for multiple artists she’s worked with, pointing out she hasn’t collaborated with Brandy. They tweeted:
“Missy aint never screamed ‘New Brandy!'”
Missy Elliott replied,
“Come on y’all… Let’s CELEBRATE the fact that these two women are coming together again…Let’s Enjoy both of their catalogues because they both are Legends with a IMPACT & have made UNDENIABLE TIMELESS music”

She also replied to a fan who said they were simply joking and tweeted:
I feel ya… you know I saw my name I was like hold up naw”
Missy Elliott has made it clear she’s all about celebrating the music. She’s previously said she doesn’t want to be featured in a Verzuz battle herself, stating she doesn’t have enough songs to compete.
