Andre 3000 Recalls Car Crash That Almost Ended His Life: We Didn’t Know What Happened Until We Woke Up In The Hospital
Outkast rapper Andre 3000 is working on an upcoming book and details a time in which he almost lost his life.
Mike Ayers, interviewed Andre 3000 for his forthcoming book One Last Song: Conversations on Life, Death, and Music, where he got candid and opened up about a nearly fatal car accident that occurred when he was a child.
“When I was younger, me and my friend were in a car accident. We were riding with my friend’s mom, but we were so young, we didn’t know what happened until we woke up in the hospital. I didn’t know, I was a kid.”
He added that the car crash took place in Atlanta and a man with one of the first working cell phones was able to call an ambulance, possibly saving their lives.
“We were on this street in Atlanta and it was a non-busy street, and fortunately, this guy who had money passed by, and he had one of the first working cell phones. It was like a suitcase and he was able to call an ambulance. If we didn’t have that cell phone, we would have been out there for a minute and might have died.”
Now, Andre 3000 i is spending his time playing the flute. He was most recently seen Sunday (September 6th) greeting someone with his flute in hand.

This isn’t the first time Andre 3000 has been spotted with his infamous flute. Back in July of 2019, the rapper was seen in a Starbucks playing his flute while customers dined. And earlier that same month, he was spotted at a craft store with that same instrument.
