Mariah Carey Says She Did Not Have Have A ‘Physical’ Relationship With Ex James Packer During 18 Month Relationship
Mariah Carey continues to share more moments of her personal life in The Meaning of Mariah Carey and interviews while promoting the memoir. During a recent interview, she revealed that she and now ex fiancé James Packer did not have a ‘physical’ relationship.
Mariah Carey and James Packer began dating in 2015 and became engaged in 2016.
They reportedly ended their engagement over disagreements regarding the prenuptial agreement.
The singer does not discuss their relationship in the book and when asked why she didn’t include him, Mariah explained,
‘If it was a relationship that mattered, it’s in the book. If not, it didn’t occur… We didn’t have a physical relationship, to be honest with you.’
While she doesn’t discuss James Packer, she does open up about her divorce from Nick Cannon writing:
Along with double the joy came double the responsibility. It was a lot of work and a lot of having to be home and available. Making the necessary adjustments to being working parents in entertainment took its toll on our relationship, and the end of our marriage came fast, as it began.
Mariah also opens up about her affair with former MLB star Derek Jeter. As previously reported, she was married to Tommy Mottola, the record executive who discovered her, when she began her affair with Derek Jeter, which inspired a few of the songs in her catalogue. Mariah says,
“He was a catalyst that helped me get out of that relationship, because I had believed that there was somebody else. It was the racial situation. You know, his mom is Irish. His dad is black, but he was also very ambiguous looking to me. I didn’t know who he was.”
