Niecy Nash & Jessica Betts Talk Falling In Love: I Knew There Was Something The Moment I Met Her

Niecy Nash and her new wife Jessica Betts might have gotten married in a secret ceremony, but now they’re opening up about their relationship.

The newlyweds, who recently celebrated their one-month anniversary, sat down with Robin Roberts for Good Morning America and talked about their journey to becoming one.

Niecy Nash finalized her divorce to Jay Tucker earlier this year and spoke on the reactions she received after marrying a woman.

“I was asked, ‘Is this your official coming out?’ and I was like, ‘Coming out from where?’ I wasn’t anywhere to come out of.  I never lived a sexually repressed life. I just love who I love when I love them.”

She added that her marriage was not about gender.

“It has everything to do with being an amazing person and she is the most beautiful soul I have ever met in my life.” 

Jessica Betts adds that the connection was instant.

“I knew there was something the moment I met her…But when I fell in love with [Niecy] is when I desired no one else.  [Then] I knew.”

Niecy Nash also said that while her love for her new wife is new, she has always loved her soul.

“Our being in love is new, but loving her as a soul, I’ve done that from the beginning,”

Niecy Nash filed for divorce from her now ex-husband, Jay Tucker, in December. She announced their separation on Instagram.

They first married in 2011.
