Lauryn Hill’s Daughter Alleges Rihanna’s Fenty Brand Stole From Her To Create Latest Savage X Fenty Fashion Show
Selah Marley, Daughter of Singer Lauryn Hill, Alleges Rihanna’s Fenty Brand Stole From Her To Create Latest Savage X Fenty Fashion Show
Artist Selah Marley, the 21-year-old daughter of entrepreneur Rohan Marley and rapper/singer Lauryn Hill, is making headlines once again after she recently made claims that the latest Savage x Fenty fashion show from music and fashion powerhouse Rihanna took just about all of its ideas from her.
In an Instagram post, Selah Marley seemed to hesitantly explain that she felt she’d been “robbed” of her creative ideas after developing a show featuring lush, flower-filled creative art production in 2019 in Brooklyn, New York. She shared a series of photos with the first being from the recent Savage x Fenty show and the others from her show entitled “A Primordial Place.”
The caption she shared under the post indicated her disappointment with what she refers to as an almost complete replication:
Quite a few friends brought this up to me & I wasn’t gonna say anything about this, but I’m bothered. For those who remember, I did ‘A Primordial Place’ in May 2019.. I put my heart & soul (& all the money I had) into this project and…. I don’t know. Is it just me?
As a young independent, female black artist, I genuinely feel robbed. I’m not signed to any label.. I don’t have any investors. I just have myself & the people who support me. It took A LOT to pull this together & to see it replicated almost exactly with no mention of my name or the work I previously put in is just ridiculous.
Fans took to Twitter to sound off on their thoughts about whether or not they agreed that Rihanna‘s show allegedly completely copied Selah Marley‘s production. Check out some of what they had to say:
