Jeezy Reveals Gucci Mane ‘Respectfully Declined’ A VERZUZ Battle With Him: We Could Have Did It For The Culture

Jeezy and Gucci Mane‘s rap beef dates back to 2005, and while the beef has reached a stable place, Gucci Mane still wants no parts of competition between him and Jeezy.

Jeezy and T.I are going head to head, kicking off season two of the popular VERZUZ battle soon, and it turns out Gucci Mane was asked to be apart of the upcoming season as well.

Jeezy appeared on The Breakfast Club on Monday morning (Nov. 9) promoting his new album The Recession 2.  During the chat, he explained how he ended up battling T.I. after Gucci Mane said no.

“I was like, ‘Swizz [Beatz] if I do it, it’s only one person I’ll do it with,’ and he was like, ‘Who?’ and I was like, ‘Gucci. Reach out to him. Let me know what’s up.’”

Jeezy says that after Swizz Beatz hit up Gucci Mane to see if he wanted to participate, Gucci Mane said he was going to pass.

“Swizz hit back and said he respectfully declined. Cool, kept it moving. I was gonna do it for the culture. We could have did it for the culture.”

Gucci Mane took to Twitter last month saying he wouldn’t do a VERZUZ unless $1 million dollars was on the table.

In a different interview, Jeezy sat down with T.I. on his expediTIously podcast and says that he thought about officially putting his and Gucci Mane’s beef to bed for good.

“I just feel like that gotta be one of them mafia backroom conversations, man.  It gotta really be a convo. What I’ve learned over the years, man, is this s*** big business. You know, people that went to Yale still do business with people that went to Harvard. So it’s just one of them real convos, man. It’s been decades.”

As previously reported the beef between Jeezy and Gucci Mane stems all the way back to 2005 when the two trap music founders collaborated on “Icy”.

Jeezy believed that the single would appear on his debut album Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101. However, Gucci Mane used it for his debut album, Trap House. Jeezy also claimed he was never paid for the hit record.

Then Jeezy dropped “Stay Strapped,” and claimed that he had a bounty out on Gucci.

Gucci responded with his own diss track “Round One,” and from there, the trap music rivalry began.

In the meantime, VERZUZ has officially announced season two to kick off with T.I. and Jeezy, taking place on November 19th at 8/7c.

They posted the update on Instagram with the. caption:

“#VERZUZ is back with Season 2 … T.I. vs Jeezy … Let the celebrations begin … Thursday, November 19th, 5PM PT/8PM ET.  Watch it on our @VerzuzTV IG or in HD on @AppleMusic. Drinks by @CIROC.”
