Bethenny Frankel Slams Meghan Markle Hours Before Oprah Winfrey Interview: ‘Cry Me A River’
Former Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel is making headlines after speaking out against Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. Frankel took to Twitter on Sunday (Mar.7) to share her opinion on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey. Just hours before the interview is set to premiere, Frankel publicly expressed her opinion about the matter.
“Cry me a river… the plight of being a game show host, fairly unknown actress, to suffering in a palace, with tiaras and 7-figure weddings for TWO WHOLE YEARS to being a household name w @Oprah on speed dial, fetching 7m for interviews, hundreds of millions in media deals.”
Bethenny Frankel was taking a dig and referencing Markle’s time on the game show, “Deal Or No Deal” and her her role as Rachel Zane on the USA’s hit show, ‘Suits’.
Frankel’s comments received mixed reactions; most people were offended by her remarks, while others agreed with the reality tv star.
In a follow-up message, Bethenny Frankel expressed that she has sympathy for Prince Harry, after a fan mentioned the tragedy of his mother’s death (Princess Diana).
“I 100% give Harry a break. This isn’t the way to generate less press & cannot be filed under the guise of wanting privacy to prevent a repeat of previous events. If you hate me for saying it here don’t listen to my podcast #justbwithbethenny it’s littered with my opinion.”
The 50-year-old podcast host later expressed that people who are asking for a place in the spotlight should have to deal with its effects, noting her time on reality TV and the ups and downs that come along with it.
“I chose reality TV, to work towards making money, to be scrutinized and criticized. I took the trappings and the beatings along with it. It’s a rose w petals and thorns. People beg to enter the often toxic institution I signed up for. That WAS the life I chose. You can’t play stupid and smart.”
During the upcoming primetime interview, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expected to describe the backstory and effects of their split from royal life. Tonight’s (Mar.7) two-hour special on CBS will provide a candid look into the couple’s departure from royal duties and the strains it has placed on them.
