Caitlyn Jenner Says She Is Against Transgender Girls Competing In Girls’ Sports
Caitlyn Jenner is receiving backlash after her recent comments regarding trans athletes. The 71-year-old former Olympic champion and reality TV personality recently expressed she is against trans girls competing in sports on teams that match their gender identity and drew additional heat for referring to trans girls as “biological boys”. In a video obtained by TMZ Jenner claims the issue is “a question of fairness”. She said,
“That’s why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls’ sports in school. It just isn’t fair. And we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”
Caitlyn Jenners’ comments come shortly after announcing her plans to run for governor of California. The remarks garnered quick criticism from many people in the LGBTQ+ community, who condemned the comments, and slammed Jenner for advocating for a bill that would unfairly target trans individuals. This has become a prominent issue as of lately due several states across the country have considering legislation that would ban trans athletes from competing based on their gender identity. As of now, five states have already passed laws or implemented executive orders this year limiting the ability of transgender youths to play sports or receive certain medical treatment.
Shortly after Jenner’s remarks went viral, the reality star took to Twitter to further explain her intentions.
“I didn’t expect to get asked this on my Saturday morning coffee run, but I’m clear about where I stand. It’s an issue of fairness and we need to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”

Caitlyn Jenner, a 1976 decathlon Olympic gold medalist and stepfather to the Kim Kardashian and the Kardashian siblings, came out as a transgender woman in 2015. She supported Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election but later criticized his administration for some discriminatory actions against transgender people. Her support of Trump received backlash from several of her peers in the LGBTQ + community and has caused many transgender rights advocates to criticize Jenner, saying she has failed to convince them that she is a major asset to their cause.
