Rihanna Reportedly Preparing To Make Musical Comeback With 9th Album, Lining Up Video Shoot In L.A.
Could Rihanna fans soon finally receive her long-anticipated ninth studio album?
As reported by The Sun, Rihanna is teaming up with British director Raja Virdi to film a music video for her next album–her first in more than five years. A source told The Sun:
“Rihanna has been secretly working on new music for a long time and her ninth album has finally come together. She has kept fans waiting for a long time — and the pandemic slowed things up even more. The project is still tightly under wraps but Rihanna will be filming a new music video in Los Angeles in July.”
Rihanna‘s last album ANTI was released back in January 2016. While the “Kiss It Better” singer has left fans waiting for additional material, she has been busy building her brand. Among Rihanna‘s business ventures are her Savage x Fenty lingerie line, Fenty Beauty makeup brand, and Fenty Skin skincare line.
Despite her music hiatus, Rihanna has referenced her musical return for some time now. Back in March 2020, the mogul coyly suggested that the so-called R9 album could be coming soon, claiming:
“I can’t say when I’m going to drop. But I am very aggressively working on music.”
Later that same year–in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the continued racial injustices in the U.S.–Rihanna said she has been using music as an escape. The star stated:
“I just want to have fun with music. Everything is so heavy. The world that we live in is a lot. It’s overwhelming every single day. And with the music, I’m using that as my outlet.”
