Comedian Paul Mooney Dead At 79 [CONDOLENCES]
Famous comedian/writer Paul Mooney has passed away at the age of 79. According to reports, Paul Mooney, born Paul Gladney, passed away today, (Wednesday, May, 19) after suffering from a heart attack in his home in Oakland, California. Journalist Roland Martin broke the news about the legendary comedian’s death via his Twitter account. According to Martin, he was filled in about the unfortunate situation by Paul Mooney’s family member. Martin Tweeted,
“BREAKING NEWS: Rudy Ealy, the cousin of @PaulEalyMooney, told me that Paul had been suffering with dementia for some time and had been living with him. Rudy said Oakland paramedics valiantly tried to save him after suffering a heart attack this AM. #RolandMartinUnfiltered”

Paul Mooney’s team released a confirmation about his death via his official Twitter page.
“Thank you all from the bottom of all of our hearts …you’re all are the best!…… Mooney World .. The Godfather of Comedy – ONE MOON MANY STARS! .. To all in love with this great man.. many thanks”

Paul Mooney was born on Aug. 4, 1941, in Louisiana, and moved to Oakland, California, seven years later where he was raised. The entertainer was known by many for the writing work he did for fellow comedian Richard Pryor. He also wrote for the popular TV shows Sanford and Son and Good Times. Paul Mooney frequently appeared in front of the camera throughout his career as well. He played singer Sam Cooke in the 1978 film The Buddy Holly Story and had several appearances on the hit series Chappelle’s Show.
