Actor Tahj Mowry Discusses Plans To Reboot ’90s Sitcom ‘Smart Guy’: We Have The Ball Rolling
Tahj Mowry will be returning to our TV screens in a reboot of the ’90s sitcom, ‘Smart Guy.’
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tahj Mowry discussed the status of the show’s return, saying:
“There’s been lots of Zoom meetings and talks about this, so we do have the full ball rolling on it. It’s just a matter of time and timing, but we have the possible home for it.”
He continued:
“We do have a writer, and I feel like I came up with a really fresh take on how we can bring that back with the whole cast and something that is fresh and new. But something that the diehard fans will still get that nostalgic aspect of it as well.”
Take a look at the ET interview.
The series was on air for three seasons [1997-1999] and chronicled the life of T.J. Henderson, a child genius whose intellectual abilities transitioned him from elementary to high school at 10 years old.
The Disney sitcom also starred Jason Weaver [Marcus Henderson] & Essence Atkins[Yvette Henderson] as T.J. Henderson’s siblings, Omar Gooding as Marcus Henderson’s best friend, and John Marshall [Floyd Henderson] played the father.
According to Tahj Mowry,
“you will find T.J. just as he was in the original, a fish out of water. He was sort of exploring a new world for himself.”
Now that T.J. is all grown-up, Mowry added,
“You’ll able to see him, maybe, have a tequila on the rocks.”
