Tiwa Savage Gets Into Heated Altercation With Seyi Shay At Salon Over Her 2019 Diss Track: You Think I’m Gonna Forget?

Musicians Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay recently had an altercation at a salon in Lagos, Nigeria–and their argument was caught on camera.

Yesterday (Tuesday, June 8th), a video of Tiwa Savage getting into a heated argument with fellow artist Seyi Shay began circulating online. The clip mainly consisted of Tiwa Savage hurling insults and suggesting that Seyi Shay was in her business.

At the very beginning of the video, Tiwa Savage seems to tell someone off-camera:

“Y’all should take my child… y’all should take him.”

Immediately after this request, she proceeds to go in on Seyi Shay. Tiwa tells her:

“B***h I’m made–I have money. I have nothing to take from you… I’ve never slept with your man. I’ve never taken a job from you. I’m never going to rape you.”

Shortly thereafter, Tiwa blasts the fellow musician for trying to brush their issues under the rug:

“You don’t try and squash s**t by saying hi–you try and squash it by calling me in the corner and taking about shit. If I have an issue with you, I don’t just say ‘hi’ as if nothing [happened].”

She then adds context to the pair’s issues:

“You and that bitch did a whole song. You went on interviews, you said shit. I didn’t say nothing!”

Tiwa Savage was referring to Victoria Kimani, as she and Seyi Shay both did covers of Kizz Daniel‘s “Fvck You” and hurled insults at Tiwa.

At this point, Tiwa Savage proceeds to insult Seyi Shay, calling her a “slut”:

“You are the dirtiest in this industry. You f**king wh*re, slut!”

Towards the end of the clip, Tiwa takes aim at Seyi‘s skin, saying:

“Look at you–you look half-dead. Look at your skin! For clear skin, you need to mind your business. That’s what will clear up your f**king ugly skin. Look at you, b***h!”

You need to mind your business maybe it will clear your fuckin ugly skin.

Shortly after the video began making its rounds, Seyi Shay spoke on the incident while speaking to Pulse Nigeria.

“So I walked into the salon… and I saw Tiwa. As I saw Tiwa, I sat down and I said ‘Let me just chill… let me maintain my distance.’ Because people in the salon were [tense], they were looking at me [and] looking at her. And actually that’s what made me stand up and go and greet her. Because people were looking at her [and] looking at me, right? And I felt like ‘No. I’m not going to feed into this and let people think that [something’s wrong].'”

She continued:

“I went up to her, she was sitting under the dryer at this point. So I just tapped her on the shoulder and said ‘Hey, Tiwa. How are you?’ And she said ‘Oh, hey. How are you?’… We just exchanged pleasantries and went back to sit down. And then I started talking to the shop owner–the hair salon owner. And this is like 20 minutes later. Tiwa came back over to me, where I was, and she said–and I quote–‘Seyi, in your dirty, stinking life never ever greet me outside anywhere you see me again.'”

Seyi Shay then shared how she responded to Tiwa:

“I was so confused, but I just said ‘okay, I won’t. Sorry.’ But she still continued to scream. And this time she was screaming ‘Oh, [you] and that b***h Victoria Kimani, you did a song about me. And you think I don’t know it’s about me? All the things you have done to me over all this time–you think I’m gonna forget?’ So then it occurred to me that she was talking about the ‘Fvck You’ challenge that I did.”

After sharing her account of the interaction, Seyi recalls that the two had actually run into each other multiple times since her “Fvck You” challenge, further confusing her as to why Tiwa decided to pop off at the salon. She then touches on Tiwa‘s comments about her skin:

“I had just done a chemical peel. You know how chemical peels leave your skin looking crazy after you’ve just had one? And I looked at her face–it looked like she had done a chemical peel. She was kinda scabbing! But I just said ‘Aye, you know what. She’s definitely angry about something, but it cannot be this “Fvck You” challenge. How–after how long?”

Neither artist has issued further comment on the matter.
