Toni Braxton’s Son Diezel Graduates High School, Headed To Howard University In The Fall

Congratulations are in order for Toni Braxton‘s younger son, Diezel Braxton!

This past Saturday (June 5th), Toni Braxton shared that her son graduated high school–and he’s heading to Howard University soon!

Diezel Braxton is Toni Braxton‘s second son with Keri Lewis. The couple wed back in 1998 and split up in 2013.

Toni Braxton discovered that she was pregnant with Diezel Braxton shortly before her fourth album, More Than a Woman, was released. On her episode of Behind the Music, Toni revealed that Arista Records was less-than-pleased with her timing, saying:

“The label was definitely a little bit upset. [They were like] ‘Now here we are, we’ve worked through the bankruptcy, we’ve paid this chick all this money, and now she’s pregnant.'”

As a result of disagreements with her label, Toni Braxton parted ways with Arista and LaFace Records in April 2003–just one month after Diezel was born.

As Diezel grew older, he was diagnosed with autism. Since his diagnosis, Toni has become involved with the organization Autism Speaks–serving as an International Spokesperson. She also became an advocate for early-age diagnoses of autism, stating that early diagnoses help children get earlier treatments.

Later, Diezel Braxton began to make a name for himself. At the age of 15, he officially started his modeling career after signing with Wilhelmina Modeling Agency.

Now, it looks like Diezel‘s next step is attending the prestigious Howard University!
