Michelle Williams Reacts To Fans Wanting To Cancel ‘Cater 2 U’: You Didn’t Discern Who You Were Catering To, Don’t Be Mad At Destiny’s Child
Michelle Williams isn’t here for fans wanting to cancel Destiny’s Child’s hit song Cater 2 U.
Years after its 2004 release, fans called for the single to be “canceled”, alleging that it’s a “slave song.”

Word got to DC member Michelle Williams, who reacted on Instagram. She channeled what appears to be an alter ego and said in a video yesterday (June 13th):
“My name is Merleen and I just read that y’all wanna cancel the song ‘Cater 2 U’ by Destiny’s Child. Oh honey, you didn’t discern who you were catering to and you gave your lil pearls to swine, don’t be mad at Destiny’s Child. Uh uh.”

Cater 2 U was a single from Destiny’s Child’s 2004 album Destiny Fulfilled. While it as always received mixed reviews because of its lyrics, it peaked at No. 14 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and No. 3 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and was ultimately certified platinum.
