Reggie Bush Responds After NCAA Announces That Despite New Rules, He Will Not Be Getting His 2005 Heisman Trophy Back: A Sham Investigation That’s About To Get Exposed

Despite new rules for NCAA athletes, Reggie Bush won’t be getting his 2005 Heisman Trophy back. Earlier this month college athletes had a reason to celebrate as the NCAA passed the new NIL policy. Under the new rules, student-athletes are now legally allowed to profit from their name, image and likeness (NIL) during their collegiate careers. After the new ruling went into place, Reggie Bush released a statement online sharing that he and his team have reached out to the NCAA in hopes of having his Heisman status returned.

He also tweeted,

“I never cheated this game. That was what they wanted you to believe about me.”

The 36-year-old former NFL player was stripped of his Heisman, and other accolades, in 2010 after it was reported that he and his family received numerous gifts and benefits while he was a student-athlete at USC.

The Heisman Trust seemingly agreed with Bush’s push to get his award back and issued a statement sharing it would be happy to welcome him “back to the Heisman family” under the premise that the NCAA recognizes his 2005 season again.

However, despite the support he’s received, it doesn’t look like Bush will be getting his award back anytime soon.

Through a spokesperson, the NCAA said that Bush’s previous violations are still outside the guidelines of the new rules, which prohibits ‘pay-for-play type arrangements.’

“Although college athletes can now receive benefits from their names, images and likenesses through activities like endorsements and appearances, NCAA rules still do not permit pay-for-play type arrangements. The NCAA infractions process exists to promote fairness in college sports. The rules that govern fair play are voted on, agreed to and expected to be upheld by all NCAA member schools.”

Following their statement, Bush took to his Twitter and shared a couple of cryptic tweets.

He then shared a statement from his attorney and captioned the post,

“A sham investigation that’s about to get exposed…”
