Skepta Claims He Would Produce Rihanna’s ‘Hardest’ Album + Says Being A Rapper Is ‘A Waste Of A Talent’
While Skepta said he is taking a break from rapping, he’s confident he can produce Rihanna’s best piece of work if she lets him.
The U.K. rapper explained to BBC Radio 1Xtra why rap isn’t his top priority, stating that it’s “a waste of a talent.”
“It was just a thought in my head where I was like, ‘I just wanna do more than just being a rapper’ because that’s a waste of a talent. I feel like right now I want to become more behind the production. I want to produce albums for people.”
He already has his sights set high and revealed he hopes to produce a project for Rihanna. He said,`
“I’d love to produce Rihanna’s album, that would be a dream. I’d probably make Rihanna’s hardest album.”
He continued and shared more of his thoughts of not living up to his full potential by only rapping.
“I feel like now I just want to branch out. I can’t be a rapper, it’s a waste of a talent. I feel like rapping for artists is some sort of therapy… but after a while, it’s like I’ve said everything – from being a confused African child to being a chief in my dad’s village. I’ve rapped myself to my nirvana, I’ve rapped myself into it somehow.”
Skepta’s fifth and most recent studio album Ignorance Is Bliss was released in 2019. Just last month, he told fans he doesn’t have any more unreleased music, and that he hopes to produce an all-female album.

Meanwhile, fans are waiting on Rihanna’s ninth studio album, so it might be the perfect time for Skepta to step in.
